Wed., April 29, 2009

The Erwin Brothers receved the Short Form Video of The Year Award during the 40th annual Dove Awards on Thursday April 23rd for the Casting Crowns video "Slow Fade". The awards, broadcast live on the Gospel Music Channel, showcase the best in Christian and Gospel music. The Brothers were nominated for four doves, three in the short form video catagory. What follows is an email from Jon Erwin to the cast, crew, friends and family...

Hello all,
Just wanted to say that when they announced that we won the Dove for best video everything went to slow motion, our brains went into a fog, and the whole thing felt surreal. Plus Mark Hall made us talk! What a crazy night! There is no way on the spot to thank everyone that made this possible. So I wanted to write this email to all of you and say THANK YOU THANK YOU! Especially....

PROVIDENT for giving us a great project. Ben, Terry, Michelle and Especially Jason McArthur who helped us shape this one from the ground up. Also thanks to Mark and the gang @ Casting Crowns. They are awesome to work with. Humble and just plain fun!

Our awesome FILM CREW. This shoot was long and hard and I appreciate all your work. Dan, Jack, Kris, Joe (who makes a cameo flipping a piece of furniture), Stephen, Andy D, Paul, Luke, the list goes on and on. Our EXTRAS that show up shoot after shoot, most of the time for free.

The city of BIRMINGHAM for letting us do whatever we want there. Rachel and David for giving us the piano. And everyone else for your support.

Most of all I'd like to thank the Lord, my wife Beth and daughter Kate. Love you guys! THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!!!!

Regards,
Jon Erwin

Dove Awards on display in Bessemer? It could happen: Erwin Brothers Motion Pictures has been nominated for four of those accolades this year.

The Bessemer film company, founded by brothers Jon and Andy Erwin, received four nods from the Gospel Music Association on Friday. Three were for short-form videos created for Casting Crowns, Remedy Drive and Group 1 Crew. One came for a long-form video for Casting Crowns.

In the video categories, awards go to the artists, directors and producers. The Erwins are represented by the following:

Short form music video: "Slow Fade," Casting Crowns; "Daylight," Remedy Drive; "Movin'," Group 1 Crew. Erwin Brothers are dominant in this category, taking three of the five nominations. The others went to KJ-52's "Fan Mail" and House of Heroes' "In the Valley of the Dying Sun."

Long form music video: "The Altar and the Door Live," Casting Crowns. This band is led by Mark Hall of Montgomery.

The Dove Awards, the Grammys of the Christian music world, will be presented at 7 p.m. April 23 on the Gospel Music Channel, broadcast live from the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

What an awesome award! By the way, thanks for being so nice to my son, Mason, who tried out last week for Life After in B'ham. It was his first real audition and you guys made him feel so comfortable. Stay humble and not like the Hollywood folks. God will bless your careers.

I used this video to teach the youth at my church about choices. I also made a point to tell them about Erwin Brothers. How some guys from Montevallo who have faith in Christ and believe in themselves can accomplish amazing things.

Thanks,

Congratulations to you! My dad, Robert Erwin, and your granddaddy "Red" were 1st cousins. I was online researching about your granddaddy showing stuff to my kids about him & came across your website. I am actually about to watch the "Honor" film you have up about him. My daddy has told my children all about your grandfather. I know he would be very proud of you! I remember him from when I was a younger child and seeing him at different times. Best of luck to you! Say hello to your family for us.

Sincerely,

You know that the reason ya'll won this award is because my daughter and I were extras! Sorry to bust your bubble, but that is a fact. Good work; you were able to "catch" my good side!
